Senior Estimator – Wet Utilities / Civil Construction

ParkerBeth Search Partners is seeking a Senior Estimator for one of Southern California’s most respected wet-utility contractors. This role is ideal for a detail-driven estimating professional with deep experience in sewer, water, storm drain, and fire line projects who thrives in a collaborative, people-first culture. As the right hand to the Chief Estimator, you will play a key role in shaping bid strategy, mentoring the estimating team, and supporting high-impact civil construction projects across the region.

What You’ll Do
- Lead the preparation of detailed cost estimates for wet-utility and civil pipeline projects
- Develop complete takeoffs, quantity measurements, and cost breakdowns for materials, labor, and equipment
- Attend pre-bid meetings, site walks, and RFQ discussions; gather and document all required technical information
- Own estimate assumptions, pricing logic, and risk evaluation for each pursuit
- Collaborate with project managers and construction teams on planning, constructability, and bid execution
- Review, coordinate, and submit competitive bid packages
- Provide mentorship and training to junior estimators and support staff
- Step in to support or temporarily oversee estimating operations as needed
- Partner cross-functionally with internal teams while maintaining strong client and vendor relationships
What You Bring
- 10+ years of estimating or project management experience within wet utilities or heavy civil construction
- Strong ability to interpret civil drawings, water district standards, soils reports, and technical specifications
- Advanced proficiency in on-screen takeoff tools (Planswift, OST, Bluebeam) and estimating platforms (HCSS, HeavyBid, Sage/Timberline)
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to present estimate findings to leadership and project teams
- A humble, team-oriented demeanor aligned with a family-driven, union-supported workplace
