Job DescriptionDEPARTMENT: Urgent Care
SHIFT: 8 Hour Shifts
POSITION SUMMARY
The Nurse Practitioner/Physician Assistant is responsible for the day-to-day management of patients in the outpatient Urgent Care setting. The Provider manages the health of patients by providing evaluation and management of acute and chronic illnesses/conditions. Assists in the development of and participation in health care services related to an Industrial Medicine/Work Comp program. The Provider is responsible for the coordination of care with specialists and appropriate ancillary services and shall work collaboratively with all members of the health care team.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES
- Provide quality patient care to patients through assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation.
- Enhance the quality of patient management and satisfaction through support and collaboration with various internal and external programs/organizations.
- All other duties or responsibilities as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Education (or substitute experience) REQUIRED:
- Current California Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant License
- DEA Furnishing License
- BLS Certification within 3 months of hire
- DOT Certification within 3 months of hire
- BAT Certification within 3 months of hire
Education Preferred:
- ACLS Preferred
- PALS Preferred
- Limited Rad Tech Certification
Minimum Experience REQUIRED:
- Must be credentialed through Medical Staff for privileges to see patients within their scope of practice
Experience Preferred:
- One-year experience working in an outpatient clinic
- Knowledge of EMR system or ability to learn and use the BVCHD/BBUC Electronic Medical Record system
Skills
- Excellent verbal and written communication
- Ability to use communication skills to enhance learning through motivation, associations and repetition
- Strong organization skills with attention to detail and accuracy
- Ability to maintain confidentiality
- Computer literacy in Microsoft Office
- Must have the ability to work collaboratively with physicians and other members of the health care team
- Must be able to withstand stressful situations
- Critical thinking skills
- Bilingual preferred
