Position Overview:

MyOme is seeking a QA Engineer who is excited to ensure the quality, accuracy, and reliability of life-changing genomic software. You'll join a collaborative, cross-functional team where your work will directly impact patient care and scientific discovery. This role is ideal for someone early in their career who's eager to learn, grow, and contribute to meaningful projects in a fast-moving, mission-driven environment.

What You'll Do:

  • Participate in regular on-call triage of production software, helping to investigate, reproduce, and document real-time issues impacting users or clinical operations.
  • Identify, log, and track bugs or inconsistencies across platforms.
  • Work closely with software engineers, product managers, and clinical teams to test new features and applications.
  • Write, maintain, and execute manual test cases across web applications and APIs.
  • Participate in the development of automated tests, especially regression and smoke testing.
  • Continuously improve test coverage, reliability, and documentation.

What You'll Need:

  • 1–2 years of experience in software quality assurance or testing (internship or personal projects welcome).
  • Familiarity with QA concepts, methodologies, and tools.
  • Familiarity with Python, SQL, and Linux.
  • Basic understanding of web technologies (HTML, CSS, JS) and API testing (e.g., Postman).
  • Some experience or interest in test automation (e.g., Selenium, Cypress, PyTest) is a plus.
  • Knowledge of Git and version control systems.
  • A detail-oriented mindset with a drive for thoroughness and accuracy.
  • Strong communication and written documentation skills and a collaborative approach to problem solving.
  • Passion for learning and working in a mission-driven startup environment.

Bonus Experience (Not Required):

  • Exposure to Django applications.
  • Knowledge of healthcare, genomics, or regulated software (HIPAA, CLIA, etc.).
  • Experience working with test case management tools (e.g., TestRail, Zephyr).
  • Familiarity with CI/CD tools (e.g., GitHub Actions, Jenkins).

Location, Compensation, and Benefits:

  • Location: Hybrid role, 2 days a week onsite at our San Francisco, CA office (near Montgomery BART).
  • Compensation: Annual base salary range of $85,000 - $120,000 based on experience.
