Position Summary

The Machinist – Milling Specialist supports aerospace manufacturing by operating CNC and manual milling equipment to produce high-precision components that meet strict FAA, AS9100, and customer-specific aerospace requirements. This role ensures accuracy, quality, and compliance with all industry standards while contributing to a safe and efficient production environment.


Key Responsibilities

- Edit programs, set up, and operate complex CNC machines, including multi-axis mills and multi-tasking mill-turns (Mazak, WFL).

- Work with ultra-precision tolerances (±.0005” or tighter) on complex aerospace components.

- Select proper tooling, fixtures, cutting parameters, and machining strategies for aerospace components.

- Perform tool offsets, adjustments, and changeovers to maintain precision within tight tolerances.

- Inspect parts using calipers, micrometers, gauges, CMM data, and other aerospace-approved metrology tools.

- Maintain documentation for AS9100 compliance, including traceability and production records.

- Conduct routine preventative maintenance and ensure machines operate at optimal levels.

- Identify machining issues and collaborate with engineering and quality teams to resolve discrepancies.

- Maintain a clean, organized workspace aligned with 5S and continuous improvement practices.

- Follow all safety procedures and regulations applicable to aerospace manufacturing.

Requirements:

Qualifications

Education & Experience:

- High school diploma or GED required; technical training in machining preferred.

- Minimum 2-4 years of milling or precision machining experience, preferably in aerospace manufacturing.

- Experience in machine aerospace materials and working to AS9100 or FAA standards strongly preferred

Skills & Competencies:

- Strong knowledge of milling operations, tooling, feeds, and speeds.

- Ability to read complex aerospace drawings and GD&T requirements.

- Proficiency with precision measuring equipment and inspection documentation.

- Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing flight-critical components.

- Ability to work independently and collaborate across production, quality, and engineering teams.
