We're Hiring! Instructional Aides and Behavioral Technicians for Special Education Programs (SPED) - Multiple School Campuses in Santa Maria!

Are you passionate about helping students succeed? You'll work closely with certificated teachers, supporting students with sensory, behavioral, and learning needs in a safe and nurturing environment.
Pay Rate: $19 to $21 per hour (based on qualifications/experience)
Schedule: Monday-Friday, Day Shift, 5.5 to 6 hours per day
Type: Full-Time, Long-Term Placement
Setting: Public School Campuses
Selected applicants must obtain AB1172 Certification - all training and certification costs are fully paid by us!

BT Certification is required for this Behavioral Technician role.

✅What You'll Do:
- Supervise and assist students with special needs in the classroom and during activities.
- Support toileting needs for students requiring assistance.
- Tutor individuals or small groups, reinforcing instruction and learning activities.
- Monitor and report on student progress and behavior.
- Implement safe supervision practices and use de-escalation techniques when needed (training provided).
- Prepare materials, assist with lesson plans, and perform light clerical tasks.
- Accompany students on field trips and supervise during lunch/playground activities.
- Maintain confidentiality of student records and ensure a safe learning environment.
- Must have high awareness to track and adjust to behavioral changes and needs
- Ability and readiness to document behaviors using charts upon request
- Comfortable working with students who may have higher behavioral needs
- Strong attendance is essential, as they play a key role in maintaining student progress, schedules, and related responsibilities
✅Skills and Knowledge:
- Understanding of child guidance principles and practices for students with special needs.
- Familiarity with basic academic subjects (reading, writing, math, grammar).
- Strong oral and written communication skills.
- Patience, tact, and courtesy in interacting with students and staff.
- Basic clerical and record-keeping skills.
- Knowledge of classroom procedures, appropriate student conduct, and safe activity practices.
- Ability to operate standard office and classroom equipment.
✅ Physical Requirements:
- Ability to sit, stand, bend, kneel, and lift moderate weight during student support activities.
- Must hear, speak, and see clearly to assist and monitor students.
✅Work Environment:
- Primarily indoor classroom settings.
- Occasional outdoor activities during supervision or field trips.
✅Working Conditions:
- Potential exposure to communicable diseases and contact with blood or other body fluids.
- Some students with behavioral challenges may require physical intervention (training provided).

- Must pass background screening and provide TB vaccination card.
- High school diploma or equivalent required; coursework in child development is a plus.
- BT certification preferred (required for Behavioral Technician role; applicants without BT certification may be hired as aides and provided training)
- Prior experience working with children with special needs is a bonus (not required - we provide training!).

- Assist in Special Day Classes (SDC) or Resource Specialist Programs (RSP).
- Tutor individuals or small groups of students with special learning needs.
- Reinforce lessons, help prepare materials, and adapt instructions to student needs.
- Support positive student behavior through reinforcement and de-escalation techniques.
- Perform light clerical tasks (like recording grades and preparing instructional materials).
- Monitor lunchroom, playground, and assist students during field trips if needed.
- Follow health and safety practices to maintain a secure environment.
- Attend training sessions, staff meetings, and maintain confidentiality at all times.
