Summary


We are representing a leading San Diego-based mechanical contractor specializing in HVAC and plumbing systems across commercial, multifamily, healthcare, and institutional projects. The company is actively seeking a Project Engineer to support project management, field coordination, and operations from preconstruction through closeout.

This is a great opportunity for someone early in their construction career or with a few years of relevant experience looking to gain hands-on exposure to full-cycle mechanical project delivery.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support Project Managers in all phases of HVAC and plumbing construction

  • Review drawings, submittals, RFIs, and specifications for accuracy and coordination

  • Help manage project documentation, including logs for RFIs, submittals, equipment tracking, and change orders

  • Assist in procuring materials and equipment, and coordinate with vendors and subcontractors

  • Attend jobsite meetings and coordinate between office and field operations

  • Update project schedules and assist in tracking project milestones

  • Support safety and quality compliance efforts, including documentation and reporting

  • Help prepare monthly billing applications and change order pricing

  • Provide day-to-day project support as needed, including field visits and reporting

Qualifications

  • 1–3 years of experience in construction or mechanical contracting preferred

  • Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Mechanical Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience)

  • Familiarity with HVAC and/or plumbing systems and terminology

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook); experience with Procore, Bluebeam, or AutoCAD is a plus

  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational, communication, and follow-through skills

  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize in a fast-paced environment

  • Team player with a desire to grow into a Project Manager role over time
