Summary
We are representing a leading San Diego-based mechanical contractor specializing in HVAC and plumbing systems across commercial, multifamily, healthcare, and institutional projects. The company is actively seeking a Project Engineer to support project management, field coordination, and operations from preconstruction through closeout.
This is a great opportunity for someone early in their construction career or with a few years of relevant experience looking to gain hands-on exposure to full-cycle mechanical project delivery.
Key Responsibilities

Support Project Managers in all phases of HVAC and plumbing construction

Review drawings, submittals, RFIs, and specifications for accuracy and coordination

Help manage project documentation, including logs for RFIs, submittals, equipment tracking, and change orders

Assist in procuring materials and equipment, and coordinate with vendors and subcontractors

Attend jobsite meetings and coordinate between office and field operations

Update project schedules and assist in tracking project milestones

Support safety and quality compliance efforts, including documentation and reporting

Help prepare monthly billing applications and change order pricing

Provide day-to-day project support as needed, including field visits and reporting
Qualifications

1–3 years of experience in construction or mechanical contracting preferred

Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Mechanical Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience)

Familiarity with HVAC and/or plumbing systems and terminology

Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook); experience with Procore, Bluebeam, or AutoCAD is a plus

Detail-oriented with strong organizational, communication, and follow-through skills

Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize in a fast-paced environment

Team player with a desire to grow into a Project Manager role over time
