Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
<ul>
<li>Work with the trial attorney and actively participates in: Formulating discovery and investigation strategy</li>
<li>Obtaining concurrence with Claims Specialist on defense preparation</li>
<li>Preparing pleadings</li>
<li>Preparing and responding to discovery</li>
<li>Attending court appearances</li>
<li>Preparing lawsuits for trial/arbitration</li>
<li>Preparing motions as requested</li>
<li>Share knowledge and information with all attorneys</li>
<li>Ensure cost effective work-up and overall defense of assignments</li>
<li>Respond to hotline inquiries from the Claims Department</li>
<li>Assist trial/lead attorneys with preparation of reports to Claims at all stages of litigation to ensure timely reporting and completion of case work-up</li>
<li>Comply with the Defense Attorney Guidelines</li>
<li>Represent CAP/MPT physicians at deposition in Depo-only cases</li>
</ul>
Education and/or Experience:
<ul>
<li>J.D. Degree</li>
<li>Minimum 3-6 years of medical malpractice litigation experience</li>
</ul>
