Pay Range: $34.00 to $35.00 per hour
Job Summary:
Lead Marine has immediate openings for a NDT II for a large defense sub-contracting coming on the waterfront here in San Diego. This NDT Examiner position shall be responsible for NDT examination and certification in accordance with the company’s’ written procedure, the development and maintenance of NDT procedures, and workmanship standards. Responsibilities include designation of the appropriate NDT method to be used, and the process of conducting shop and contractor audits.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Monitor and measure of all client’s products and processes in the field and facility shops by performing “I”. “V” and “G” hold points and critical coating inspections on naval, MSG, USCG and commercial vessels.
- Assists as Dept Hold Point Coordinator by taking “V”, “I” and “G” Hold points for their respective job sites and directs them to and fom the various customers and to our QA and Task leads on the ship.
- Perform nondestructive inspection methods (VT, PT, and MT) at the level II as required.
- Assist the divisions with deck plate subcontractor control including supplier facility visits.
- Researches customer specifications and drawings then generates inspection reports (tickets) for various project personnel to follow.
- Prepares QA required surveillance reports and documentation to provide objective quality evidence of the project work performed.
- Assists with internal and external audits.
- Closes out all QA documentation (QA Work Packages) for customer review or audit when requested.
- Work directly with the Divisions, Departments, and Sites to revise their third tier procedures.
- Maintains established T&I Plans and is capable of establishing T&I Plans from specification and Standard Item requirements.
Requirements for this role include:
- High School/GED education at a minimum.
- Previous Military or industrial training/qualification/certification/experience must be documented to meet Level II requirements.
- As an option, this individual may have been a NDT Level I or NDT Trainee to meet previous training/qualification/experience requirements.
- At a minimum, this individual will be certified, able to work independently, and proficient in the following methods: VT and PT.
- Additional certifications of other NDT methods preferred, i.e. MT, UT, RT, ET.
- NBPL certification a plus.
- Technical knowledge with submarine and/or surface combat ships recommended.
- Must have the ability to communicate effectively with personnel in and outside of the organization.
