Job Summary:
The Yard Goat Driver is responsible for safely and efficiently moving trailers within the yard to support warehouse and dock operations. This role requires strong attention to safety, effective communication, and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
Responsibilities:
- Move, spot, and position trailers at dock doors and designated yard locations
- Perform pre- and post-trip inspections of yard equipment
- Communicate with warehouse and dock personnel regarding trailer placement and priorities
- Ensure compliance with all safety policies, procedures, and yard rules
- Report equipment issues, damage, or safety concerns immediately
- Maintain accurate records of trailer movements as required
- Operate yard tractor in various weather conditions and during different shifts
Qualifications:
- Valid Class C driver’s license
- Prior experience operating a yard goat or similar equipment preferred
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
- Strong safety awareness and attention to detail
- Ability to work flexible schedules, including weekends if needed
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to sit for extended periods
- Ability to climb in and out of yard equipment multiple times per shift
- Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions
