Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Deaf Education, active DHH teaching certification, and 1+ years Teacher of the Deaf / Hard of Hearing experience required. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered.
We are seeking a Deaf and Hard of Hearing (DHH) Specialist to join our team in Oakland, CA. This role will provide essential services to students with hearing impairments in a K-12 caseload, ensuring they have the necessary support to succeed academically and socially.
Key Responsibilities:

Assess and support students with hearing impairments in developing their communication skills, including language development, social skills, and academic success.

Provide individualized instruction and accommodations based on the needs of students who are Deaf or hard of hearing.

Collaborate with classroom teachers and other support staff to ensure that students receive appropriate accommodations and modifications.

Implement specialized teaching strategies to enhance students' literacy, language acquisition, and comprehension.

Support students in participating in classroom activities, social interactions, and extracurricular programs.

Maintain clear documentation and communicate regularly with parents, educators, and support teams regarding student progress.
Requirements:

Bachelors degree in Deaf Education, Special Education, or a related field.

Certification as a Deaf and Hard of Hearing Specialist (or equivalent qualifications).

Experience working with K-12 students who are Deaf or hard of hearing, preferably in an educational setting.

Knowledge of American Sign Language (ASL) or other communication systems used by students with hearing impairments.

Strong communication and collaboration skills.
