Job Title: Lead Electrician
Location: Scotia, CA
We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Lead Electrician to oversee and support the electrical systems in Scotia, CA. Our facilities rely heavily on automated processes, and this role is critical in ensuring uptime, safety, and continuous improvement of electrical systems.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and execute electrical installations from start to finish, including scoping, material planning, code compliance, tooling, dependencies, timelines, and execution.
- Install, troubleshoot, and maintain control and distribution apparatus (switches, relays, breaker panels, etc.).
- Repair and replace electrical components such as contactors, motor starters, sensors, MCC sections, PLC I/O, VFDs, and DCS devices.
- Diagnose and resolve electrical and automation issues using testing equipment, schematics, blueprints, and diagrams.
- Train and guide team members, ensuring adherence to NFPA safety standards (70, 70B, 79, and 70E).
- Maintain and optimize motor systems, conduit installations, wiring, and other electrical systems.
- Support continuous improvement projects related to equipment reliability and process optimization.
- Assist with inventory and ensure workplace safety and cleanliness.
Qualifications
Required
- Certificate from a technical school OR equivalent combination of education and experience.
- 4+ years of related industrial electrical experience and/or 2+ years of technical craft training.
- Strong ability to read and interpret schematics, power distribution, and control diagrams.
- Proficiency with hand and power tools.
- Basic computer skills (Word, Excel, Access).
- Valid driver’s license and ability to operate company vehicles.
- Strong leadership and communication skills.
Preferred
- Experience in sawmill and planer production environments.
- Advanced troubleshooting skills with PLCs, ladder logic, and VFDs.
- Familiarity with automation systems, PLC software, and industrial controls.
- Knowledge of NFPA 70B and NFPA 79.
- Ability to fabricate and perform light mechanical tasks (welding, grinding, cutting).
- Previous leadership, business, or process management experience.
