Job DescriptionMechanical Maintenance Team Lead — Chemical Manufacturing

Primary Location: Richmond, CA

Workweek: Monday to Friday

Reporting Line: Maintenance Manager

Pay & Perks: $120,000 – $130,000 base + bonus + comprehensive benefits. (salaried, exempt)

  • Are you comfortable using a CMMS to drive PM compliance, work quality, and uptime?

Role snapshot

  • Create, communicate, and manage the daily maintenance schedule for the Richmond sulfuric acid and regeneration plant.
  • Coordinate with Operations to prioritize emergency work; assign and track tasks in the CMMS.
  • Lead troubleshooting sessions for process/equipment problems; implement sustainable fixes.
  • Supervise techs and contractors during maintenance and capital project activities.
  • Maintain inventories across mechanical, instrumentation, welding, rotating equipment, and common spares (pipe-valve-fittings, filters, bearings, hoses).
  • Drive safety performance—incident reporting, investigations, root cause, and action closures—in line with Responsible Care.
  • Ensure JSAs are developed and communicated; uphold plant procedures, permits, and regulatory standards.
  • Plan outages, manage budgets/schedules, track metrics, and conduct post-job reviews.
  • Develop a training roadmap so technicians have the right skills and certifications.

What you’ll need

  • Associate’s degree in Mechanical Engineering; 5+ years in maintenance.
  • Background with equipment typical of chemical, refinery, power, or pulp & paper settings.
  • 3+ years of frontline leadership with hourly teams.
  • Experience implementing and sustaining industrial safety programs.
  • CMMS proficiency; MS Word and Excel skills; SAP familiarity (PM and purchasing) preferred.
