Company DescriptionWe were originally incorporated in 2010 as “Meals on Wheels by ACC.” ACC Senior Services took over senior nutrition services from Sacramento County, when the County decided to close senior nutrition services after 30+ years. ACC Senior Services was selected to take over the service. ACC formed Meals on Wheels by ACC as a separate 501c 3 non-profit, with a separate Board of Directors and separate staff. ACC became the managing agent.

In spring 2024, we became Meals on Wheels by ACC DBA “Meals on Wheels Sacramento County.” We adopted the new name, Meals on Wheels Sacramento County and branding of Meals on Wheels America, of which we are a member. Previous incarnations of the logo were cosmetic, changing only fonts and letter size. By adopting the new name and new logo, the organization hoped to raise awareness about what we do and where we serve, and how the struggle with food insecurity and isolation is something that older adults all across the county face.

Currently, Meals on Wheels Sacramento County partners with local restaurants to provide locally-made meals. We take advantage of our location in the breadbasket of California to provide seasonal fresh produce to our participants. Our goal is to provide farm-to-fork nutritious meals that help older adults live healthier lives.

We are often asked about how Meals on Wheels Sacramento County is funded. We are partially supported by government and private foundation grants, donations from generous supporters, and fundraising activities. We are grateful for the donations from community members!
