Summary
The Duty Drawback Senior Manager reports to the LOGISTEED-America, Inc. President / CEO.
This pivotal role will be responsible for building out a best-in-class drawback function from the ground up, including developing strategies, implementing processes, and recruiting and managing a team of Drawback Associates. Duty Drawback Senior Manager will oversee the process of claiming refunds on import duties, taxes, and fees when goods are exported or destroyed. This role ensures compliance with regulations, manages the claim process, and collaborates with various teams to maximize refunds. They also analyze trade data, maintain documentation, and work with customs authorities. Additionally they will be required to, but not limited to:
- possess deep expertise in duty drawback regulations,
- a proven track record of successful program implementation, and
- strong leadership skills to mentor and develop a high-performing team.

- Found, develop, and execute a comprehensive duty drawback strategy, identifying eligible drawback opportunities across all relevant business units and product lines.
- Establish clear program objectives, key performance indicators (KPIs), and reporting mechanisms to track progress and demonstrate value.
- Research, interpret, and ensure compliance with all applicable U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) drawback regulations and policies (e.g., 19 CFR Part 191).
- Stay abreast of changes in drawback regulations and industry best practices, proactively adapting strategies as needed.
- Delegate tasks effectively and manage workload distribution to ensure efficient operation and timely claim submissions.
- Design, implement, and refine robust internal processes and controls for identifying, documenting, calculating, preparing, and submitting duty drawback claims.
- Oversee the accurate and timely preparation and submission of all drawback claims to CBP, ensuring all required documentation and supporting evidence is meticulously maintained.
- Develop and implement an audit-ready record-keeping system for all drawback-related activities.
- Manage and respond to CBP inquiries, audits, and requests for information related to drawback claims.
- Identify and mitigate potential risks associated with drawback claims and compliance.
- Leverage technology and data analytics to optimize drawback processes and maximize recovery.
Communications/Collaborations
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams (e.g., Finance, Supply Chain, Legal, Trade Compliance, Customs Brokers) to integrate drawback processes seamlessly into existing operations.
- Act as the primary point of contact for all duty drawback matters internally and externally (e.g., with CBP, customs brokers, external consultants).
- Communicate program status, performance, and key insights to senior leadership regularly.
- Build strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders to facilitate efficient information exchange and program success.
- Communicating effectively between CEO/Pres. and management team
Employee Engagement
- Recruit, hire, and onboard a team of Duty Drawback Associates, fostering a collaborative and high-performing environment.
- Provide ongoing training, coaching, and mentorship to team members, developing their expertise in drawback regulations, claims preparation, and compliance.
- Set clear performance expectations, conduct regular performance reviews, and support professional development plans for the team.
- Inspiring and motivating employees to perform at their best through positive encouragement and incentive initiatives
- Encourage staff to learn as much as possible about the Freight Forwarding industry
- Motivate staff to take pride in the Company as part of a winning team that has the best interests of the Company in mind

Preferred Qualifications, Required Knowledge Skills & Abilities and Working Conditions
Previous Work Experience
- Minimum of 8 years of progressive experience in duty drawback,
- Minimum of 5 years in a leadership or managerial role.
- Demonstrated experience in establishing and managing a duty drawback program from its inception is highly preferred.
Education and Certifications
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Supply Chain Management, International Trade, or a related field.
- Equivalent work experience will be considered
Experience Requirements and Preferences
- In-depth knowledge of U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) duty drawback regulations (19 CFR Part 191) and various drawback types (e.g., manufacturing, unused merchandise, substitution).
- Proven track record of successfully preparing, submitting, and defending duty drawback claims resulting in significant recovery.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex regulations, analyze data, and identify drawback opportunities.
- Excellent leadership, team-building, and mentoring skills.
- Exceptional communication (written and verbal) and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence and collaborate effectively at all levels.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) and experience with ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle) and/or specialized trade compliance software.
- Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.
- Customs Broker License (CBL) is a significant plus.

WORK ENVIRONMENT
Ninety-five percent of the work time will be spent in an office setting. Five percent of work time may be spent outside of the office or other locations where the environment is/is not climate controlled.
