We are seeking an experienced Personal Injury Litigation Paralegal to manage approximately 50 active litigation files from filing through trial or settlement. This role requires strong organizational skills, deep familiarity with California civil procedure, and the ability to independently manage deadlines, discovery, and case progression with attorney oversight.
The ideal candidate is proactive, detail-oriented, and comfortable working in a fast-paced plaintiff-side litigation environment.
Key Responsibilities
Case Management
- Independently manage a caseload of approximately 50 active personal injury litigation matters
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date case files, calendars, and litigation timelines
- Track and calendar all statutory deadlines, court deadlines, and internal task deadlines
- Prepare and maintain medical chronologies, billing summaries, and damages documentation
Litigation & Court Filings
- Draft, format, and file pleadings, motions, declarations, notices, and proofs of service
- Prepare and file documents via California e-filing systems (LASC and other counties)
- Assist with trial preparation, including exhibit binders, witness lists, and trial subpoenas
- Prepare hearing binders and coordinate court appearances as needed
Discovery
- Draft, propound, and respond to written discovery (Form, Special, RFPs)
- Prepare meet-and-confer correspondence
- Track discovery deadlines and compliance
- Organize and analyze discovery responses and document productions
Medical Records & Liens
- Request, track, and follow up on medical records and billing
- Organize and summarize medical records
- Coordinate lien information and assist with lien negotiations
- Maintain accurate treatment and billing status reports
Client & Attorney Support
- Serve as a point of contact for clients regarding case status and document collection
- Communicate professionally with opposing counsel, experts, and court staff
- Assist attorneys with settlement demands, mediation briefs, and trial preparation
- Ensure cases are moving forward without unnecessary delay
Required Qualifications
- Minimum 3–5 years experience as a personal injury litigation paralegal
- Strong knowledge of California civil litigation procedures
- Experience managing high-volume caseloads
- Proficiency with legal calendaring and case management systems
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Highly organized, deadline-driven, and detail-oriented
- Ability to work independently and anticipate case needs
Preferred Qualifications
- Trial preparation experience
- Experience with catastrophic injury, premises liability, or dog-bite cases
- Familiarity with medical billing and lien resolution
- Experience working directly with plaintiff-side firms
