I. JOB DESCRIPTION

A. Purpose and Scope

Responsible for supervising, coordinating, and executing the assigned lean facility operations, maintenance and logistics activities at assigned Empower Facilities, while driving continuous improvements throughout the assigned areas and functions.

By leading these activities the position ensures that the facility is always organized, and continuously improving to reduce waste and increase the flow of value to our customers. In this role the facility will be a model organization always getting progressively better and always ‘Tour Ready’ for a visit by customers or Sr. Staff at any time.

B. Responsibilities

- Monitor and oversee the building systems including but not limited to mechanical, fire/life safety, phone systems, physical security, access, office equipment and property.

- Provide all services and maintenance assuring the safe and efficient operation of all equipment utilized for building activities.

- Conduct in service training and implements safety regulations and programs.

- Supervise and coordinate all maintenance services, repairs and cleaning pertaining to the building and related equipment.

- Formulate and implement preventive maintenance programs for utility systems, equipment and building maintenance, as well as assist and training building personnel in standardization of improvements.

- Make daily inspections at Empower premises and serve as primary contact at the site for employees, guests and vendors.

- Drive daily 3S activities and continuous improvement standardization projects with assigned areas to reduce waste and increase process efficiency and quality.

- Schedule and direct the shipment of products to ensure accurate and timely completion of packing and shipping schedule requirements.

- perform timely receiving function and organization and distribution of in-bound shipments to appropriate well organized locations for easy location and use.

- Contribute to facility project plans and provide material cost and schedule estimates to GM, and mentor for CI activities as requested.

C. Organization Relationship

The Facilities and Shipping Manager must report directly to the Operations Manager.

II. JOB REQUIREMENTS

A. Education and Training

Lean Facilities and Logistics Lead is required to have a two-year degree with training in the following areas: knowledge in the principles and practices of facilities operations, maintenance, shipping and receiving and team leadership. Military or Industry experience may be substituted in leu of a college degree.

B. Skills and Knowledge Requirements

The Lean Facilities and Logistics Lead must have good communications skills. Plan, organize and prioritize time and workload in order to accomplish tasks and meet deadlines. Always deal with people in a manner that shows sensitivity, tact and professionalism. Make decisions or solve a problem by using logic to identify key facts, explore alternatives, and propose sound solutions and collaborate with team members for best effects.

C. Experience

Four years of related work experience is required. Knowledge and understanding of the quality system that is similar to ISO 9001 standards is needed.

D. LEAN Experience and training: 6 months of real world, hands-on work under mentorship of Lean Systems focused Manufacturing Engineer is preferred with demonstrated excellence in all assigned activities, confirmed by demonstrated display of leadership, ownership, and follow through on activities and the mentors’ recommendation for this position.
