SUMMARY OF POSITION

This position provides intake assessments for children ages 0-3.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Complete intake developmental evaluations for infants and toddlers under 3 years of age who are referred to the Early Start Intake Unit.
  • Work directly with families to schedule in-person, intake evaluation appointments within the natural environment, such as the family’s home.
  • Complete a DAYC-2 developmental evaluation tool, hearing screening tool and vision screening tool.
  • Complete an M-CHAT-R screening tool when appropriate.
  • Review all case records, to include medical and legal documents.
  • Recommend additional evaluations, such as OT, PT, and ST evaluations, when appropriate.
  • Write up a psychosocial report to include the caregiver’s concerns regarding the infant or toddler’s development.
  • Complete and submit all documentation in accordance with agency procedures and timelines.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

Minimum qualifications include a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in Social Work, Psychology, Human Services, Special Education or related field required plus two years of professional experience working with infants and toddlers under 3 years of age. Qualified candidates must have good client interview skills, assessment skills, and excellent interpersonal skills, and be available to make community contacts. Bilingual English/Spanish skills required. Must possess a valid California Drivers License.

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read, write, and speak Spanish required. Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common scientific and technical journals, financial reports, and Legal documents. Have the ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community. Ability to effectively present information to top management, public groups, and/or board of directors.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

California Driver License.
