General Summary
The Yard Goat Operator is responsible for the safe and timely movement of containers and trailers within the facility yard to support the Shipping & Receiving department. This role ensures efficient yard operations, maintains inventory accuracy, and upholds safety standards.
Responsibilities (if applicable):
- Safely move containers between designated yard locations and dock/warehouse areas.
- Verify and ensure correct containers are positioned at the appropriate docks.
- Maintain accurate yard inventory logs and documentation.
- Communicate effectively with the Shipping & Receiving department to coordinate trailer movements.
- Keep work areas clean and free of debris, maintaining awareness of surroundings (vehicles, people, equipment).
- Install container chassis supports when required.
- Assist other departments with general labor tasks as needed.
- Operate other vehicles or equipment when necessary.
- Help maintain the accuracy, security, and integrity of company assets.
- Ensure safety of personnel in the vicinity during container movements.
- Maintain an organized and efficient trailer yard layout.
- Report any mechanical issues or trailer damage immediately.
Qualifications/Experience:
- Minimum 2 years of verifiable experience operating yard goat equipment.
- Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions, including extreme heat or cold.
- Flexible availability, including weekends and holidays.
- Reliable transportation and punctual attendance.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and strong initiative.
- Valid driver’s license required.
