Qualifications
Education & Experience
Associate’s Degree in Mechatronics, Electronics, or a related field
OR
5+ years of hands-on experience in mechanical, electrical, or software troubleshooting within a manufacturing environment (medical device experience preferred)
Job Overview
As a Test Technician, you will support both assembly and functional system testing of complex medical instruments. This includes analyzing test data, troubleshooting non-functioning systems, and driving performance optimization. You’ll be the subject matter expert in test equipment functionality and performance, and play a key role in identifying defects, improving processes, and ensuring compliance with industry standards.
Key Responsibilities
Assemble and integrate instruments according to specifications, drawings, and standards.
Execute functional and release testing on moderately complex instruments.
Analyze test data and determine pass/fail outcomes; troubleshoot failures and implement solutions.
Optimize system performance, focusing on mechanical movement and/or optical (light-based) systems.
Identify and escalate product or testing issues; collaborate with engineering and quality teams.
Read and interpret engineering drawings and work instructions accurately.
Perform material handling of components and sub-assemblies.
Maintain clean, organized, and safe work environment per company and GMP standards.
Document work per standard operating procedures and regulatory requirements.
Actively participate in Continuous Improvement (Lean, Kaizen, 5S) initiatives.
Collaborate cross-functionally with Manufacturing Engineering, Quality, Planning, and Purchasing.
Skills & Competencies
Strong mechanical aptitude with tools (e.g., torque drivers, gauges, calipers)
Solid understanding of electrical and software system testing
Ability to read technical drawings and schematics
Analytical thinking and strong problem-solving skills
Proficient in data analysis and test reporting
Computer proficiency (Windows OS, MS Office, basic data entry)
Excellent communication and leadership skills
Ability to mentor and train peers
Experience with Continuous Improvement methodologies (Lean, Six Sigma, Kaizen)
Work Environment & Additional Requirements
Must follow all safety and GMP guidelines
Ability to lift and handle materials as needed
Must be able to manage frequent assignment changes and meet deadlines
