Position Overview

The Career & Job Placement Specialist / Case Manager is a dynamic role combining job placement services, career coaching, case management, and group training facilitation for young adults in underserved communities. This position helps participants prepare for and secure meaningful employment while connecting them to resources and employer networks.

This role requires a startup mentality someone ready to dive in, roll up their sleeves, and take on whatever is thrown their way. You'll facilitate group training sessions using our proprietary technology platform, manage participant records in CalJOBS, and achieve specific performance metrics within designated timeframes. Strong organizational skills, excellent group facilitation abilities, and relationship-building are essential.

This position is a hybrid remote role and needs to be able to drive to in-person training when required.

Key Responsibilities

Job Placement & Employer Engagement

  • Actively place participants into quality jobs by leveraging employer relationships and building new partnerships
  • Provide coaching on resume development, job readiness, application processes, and interview preparation
  • Maintain regular contact with employers to track placement success and gather feedback
  • Meet or exceed monthly job placement targets and performance metrics

Group Training & Case Management

  • Facilitate group training sessions for cohorts of 15-30 participants using our technology platform
  • Serve as primary case manager for assigned caseload
  • Deliver engaging workshops on job readiness, soft skills, and career development
  • Provide individualized support including career coaching, follow-up/job retention assistance, and connecting participants with supportive services (transportation assistance, emergency cash aid, work tools, program fee support, etc.)
  • Conduct regular check-ins and assessments to track participant progress

CalJOBS & Data Management

  • Create and maintain participant accounts in CalJOBS with registration and eligibility documentation
  • Enter activity codes, case notes, measurable skill gains (MSG), credential attainment, and other required data promptly and accurately
  • Keep detailed participant case files in both CalJOBS and internal tracking systems
  • Generate reports and track outcomes to monitor program effectiveness
  • Maintain data entry accuracy standards and meet all documentation deadlines

Performance & Metrics Management

  • Achieve monthly/quarterly targets for job placements, training completion rates, and participant engagement
  • Track and report on key performance indicators including placement rates, wage outcomes, and retention rates
  • Continuously analyze performance data to identify improvement opportunities

Additional Responsibilities (Startup Environment)

  • Flexibly respond to changing program needs and take on additional responsibilities as they arise
  • Refer participants to partner organizations and local community resources
  • Coordinate with community partners, educational institutions, and employers
  • Adapt quickly to new processes, technologies, and service delivery models

Qualifications

Required:

  • Must be based in Los Angeles County, California
  • Experience facilitating groups/training sessions with 15+ participants
  • Demonstrated ability to meet performance metrics and work within tight deadlines
  • Startup mentality: adaptable, resourceful, willing to take on diverse responsibilities
  • Associate/Bachelor's degree in social work, human services, workforce development, or related field; or equivalent experience
  • 12 years of experience in workforce development, job placement, case management, or related services
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Strong organizational and record-keeping skills
  • Commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion
  • Proven ability to adapt quickly to changing needs and think proactively to anticipate challenges and opportunities

Strongly Preferred:

  • Knowledge of CalJOBS
  • Existing employer connections in LA County
  • Spanish-speaking ability
  • Experience with performance-driven environments and meeting measurable outcomes
  • Background in group facilitation, training, or adult education
  • Experience working in urban communities
  • Understanding of local community-based resources in LA County
