Under the supervision of the Laboratory Manager the Lab Technician 1 will be responsible for learning all aspects of PGT-A/PGT-SR testing, including but not limited to, sample receiving, amplification, library preparation, sequencing, and reporting. This position requires high attention to detail and the ability to accurately follow protocols.
Pay Per Hour is $27, Full-Time, Monday- Friday 9:00AM-5:30PM
Essential Job Responsibilities
- Assist with sample receiving and specimen verification
- Perform DNA amplification and NGS testing
- Analyze NGS data for chromosomal abnormalities and accurately compile patient results into report summaries
- Maintain laboratory equipment under the supervision of the laboratory manager
- Complete regular cleaning and stocking of laboratory
- Adhere to all Standard Operating Procedures in compliance with regulatory requirements and standards for the laboratory
- Follow quality assurance and quality control programs
- Observe all laboratory safety policies
- Troubleshoot protocol and equipment malfunctions under the direction of laboratory manager
- Handling blood-borne pathogens and general laboratory reagents
- Additional responsibilities as deemed necessary.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s of Science degree in Biology or relevant field required. Lab degree and/or work experience preferred.
- Minimum 1 year experience in laboratory setting
Knowledge, skills, and abilities
- Computer proficiency required.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work as part of a multi-disciplinary team

- Ability to make timely, accurate, and legible records
- Ability to follow detailed protocols with a high level of accuracy
- Ability to perform benchwork 75-100% of the time
- Ability to adhere to requirements of HIPAA and other ethical standards with respect to patient-specific information
- Ability to observe the safety practices and protocols common to all laboratory activities and those specific to a genetics laboratory
- Working knowledge of Office programs (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
- Ability to multi-task, be self-motivated, and to work independently to meet deadlines
- Possession of a high attention to detail, with low technical and clerical error rates
