Position Overview

Conscious Puzzles is seeking a compassionate and skilled Substance Abuse Counselor to join our growing clinical team in Napa, CA. This role provides direct services to individuals experiencing substance use disorders, often alongside co-occurring mental health conditions. The ideal candidate is trauma-informed, culturally responsive, and committed to ethical, client-centered care.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide individual and group counseling to clients with substance use and co-occurring disorders

• Conduct substance use assessments, screenings, and clinical documentation

• Develop and implement individualized treatment plans

• Collaborate with multidisciplinary providers, case managers, and referral sources

• Maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation in the EHR

• Support relapse prevention planning and recovery-oriented goals

• Uphold all ethical, legal, and confidentiality standards (HIPAA, 42 CFR Part 2 as applicable)

Qualifications

Required:

• Certification or registration as a Substance Use Disorder Counselor (e.g., SUDRC, CADC, CATC, or equivalent in California)

• Experience working with individuals affected by substance use disorders

• Strong documentation and clinical communication skills

• Ability to work independently while collaborating with a clinical team

Preferred:

• Experience with co-occurring mental health diagnoses

• Familiarity with trauma-informed care and culturally responsive practices

• Experience working in community mental health or outpatient clinic settings
