Overview
Functions as a member of the Operating Room team by providing professional nursing care to patients whose protective reflexes or self care abilities are potentially compromised during surgical or other invasive procedures. Provides support to the Anesthesiologist as needed during the intraoperative process. Utilizes clinical knowledge, critical thinking, and the nursing process to provide care to patients in the operating room. Uses the principles and guidelines of the AORN to ensure asepsis and infection control.
This position is part time, non-exempt and benefits eligible. The pay range for this position is $75.24 - $106.22/hour. Compensation is determined based on relevant experience and department equity.
Responsibilities
- Performs professional nursing services for patients with a variety of needs utilizing the nursing process and within the scope, ethics and standards of practice as defined by the American Nurses Association and the California BRN Nurse Practice Act.
- Supports the family centered care philosophy of Shriners Hospitals.
- Collects and analyzes assessment data to determine diagnosis/issues
- Identifies expected outcomes and develops a plan that prescribes strategies which address health promotion and restoration, health maintenance, or health related problems or issues and alternatives to attain expected outcomes
- Implements the identified plan and coordinates care delivery
- Employs strategies to promote health and a safe environment
- Evaluates progress toward attainment of outcomes
- Applies the principles of professional codes of ethics that ensure individual rights in all areas of
practice - Integrates evidence and research findings into practice
- Demonstrates leadership behaviors in practice settings, across the profession, and in the
community
Qualifications
Minimum:
- CA RN License
- BSN
- CPR
- PALS (within 6 months of employment)
Preferred:
- One year of specialty experience preferred.
