Position: CNC Machinist / Programmer
Description:
The CNC Machinist / Programmer performs programming, setup, and first article operation of CNC machines on close-tolerance parts. This position will be responsible for producing high-quality parts to customer or internal drawings and models. This position will be relied upon to create robust setups and streamlined machining operations and verify their work. Machine operation may be required to the extent that setup and programming is dialed in before releasing to CNC operators. May assist with training/mentoring lower-level CNC machinists and be required to validate setups and self-inspect production.

Technical Skills:
· Must have broad CNC machining experience including grinding, turning, milling, EDM, welding in 3,4, and 5 Axis machines.
· Must be able to comprehend blueprints, work orders, and other technical documents
· Check accuracy of work against blueprints and specifications
· Ability to operate multiple machines simultaneously
· Knowledge of GD&T, shop math (including trigonometry)
· Must be able to use the necessary measuring tools (Micrometers, calipers, dial indicators, gages, etc.)
· Knowledge and understanding of machining techniques and processes
· Knowledge of advanced cutting tool technology
· Ability to use manual inspection equipment
· Must be able to lift and move up to 35lbs, occasionally lift and move objects up to 50lbs
· Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus
· Technical aptitude and excellent judgement skills
· Experience machining Invar, Aluminum, Composite and Graphite materials
Job Duties/Responsibilities (including but not limited to):
· Accurately and efficiently sets-up and operates CNC machinery to manufacture tooling and parts
· Interprets and follows engineering planning
· Interfaces and partners with Engineering, Programming and Quality Inspection as necessary
· Measure dimensions of finished work pieces ensuring conformance to specifications using precise measuring instruments, templates, fixtures and knowledge of GD&T
· Performs troubleshooting of quality errors to assist in the root of cause and correction process
· Thorough understanding of machining different materials and the ability to calculate spindle speed, machining feed rates, and proper chip load
· Listen to machining operation in order to detect sounds such those made by dull cutting tools or excessive vibration and be able to compensate for problems
· Maintains equipment by completing preventative maintenance requirements, inspecting machines, following manufacturer’s instructions, calling for repairs
Education & Experience:
· High school diploma or equivalent
· CNC Machinist Certification.
· Minimum 3 years of CNC Machinery experience
· Must have Aerospace industry experience
Compensation:
Compensation will be commensurate upon industry standard and level of experience. Based upon strong representation of all skills above, compensation package will be:
