Full Job Description
The primary therapist will diagnose new clients, treat mental and emotional disorders within the context of a substance abuse treatment setting. This individual will have a caseload assigned to them and must have competency in delivering services and treatments based on recovery-oriented principles, family systems, and evidenced based treatments. The clinical therapist will motivate clients to actively participate in their own recovery from addiction and treatment process, assisting them with learning new skills, gaining knowledge, and empowering them to improve their lives.
Responsibilities:
- Uphold and enforce the companys standards, policies and procedures, client rights, and professional code of ethics and conduct.
- Conduct clinical evaluation, psychological and/or psychosocial assessment, client diagnosis and interpretive summary. Prepare person-centered treatment plans, case management, consultation, education, and referral as needed.
- Conduct client risk and safety evaluations and assessments.
- Leading primary clinical care manager for individuals identified with co-occurring disorders.
- Facilitate individual psychotherapy sessions, group therapy, and Family Counseling.
- Evaluate the individual and family systems as well as assess clients functioning within work, family and routines of daily living and identifies areas needing continued support, resources and treatment in order to assist clients.
- Develop, implement, and maintain partnerships with other community providers.
- Prepare pre-certification/authorization clinical information to insurance utilization case managers and subsequent concurrent review (continued stay) clinical reports per medical necessity criteria.
- Conduct insurance peer-to-peer reviews as needed.
- Provide follow-up and aftercare planning services as needed. Expeditiously discharge inactive clients.
- Provide emergency crisis services during work hours and after hours as assigned.
- Adhere to code of ethics, legal aspects of clinical practice, professional standards, duty to warn, abuse and neglect reporting policies and procedures, and exercise professionalism at all times.
- Exercise awareness in cultural competency, client satisfaction, quality of services, client needs, and overall health and safety staff and clients.
Minimum Requirements:
- Masters degree or higher in the proper mental health field. Possess Licensure from the Board of Behavioral Sciences or Associate under supervision from Clinical Director. Acceptable licenses are: LMFT, AMFT, LPCC, and LCSW, MSW. Provisional licenses are acceptable for up to three (3) years as long as provisional license is current. Must maintain a professional license and stay current (not revoked, suspended, or lapsed in registration), valid and unrestricted.
- Two years experience working in the field of addiction and/or mental health.
- Valid driver's license
- Continued education in Substance Use Disorders and 6 months experience working in substance abuse treatment programs.
- Current CPR and First Aid Certification/TB test
- Hiring is contingent on results of a background check and drug screen

- Interpersonal skills
- Advanced knowledge of HIPAA and confidentiality
- Advanced knowledge of behaviors and emotions related to addiction
- Ability to facilitate group counseling
- Skills in documenting effective group and individual notes (KIPU experience preferred)
- Ability to coordinate volunteer and vocational activities for clients
- Knowledge about the FMLA process and coordination
- Skills in ACA intervention strategies
- Ability to create effective discharge and aftercare plans
