SYSTEMS ADMINISTRATOR

STATUS: Fulltime

FLSA: Exempt

REPORTS TO: Dry Creek Gaming Commissioners

SUPERVISES: N/A


WORKING HOURS:

This is a salaried exempt position. The incumbent is expected to work the necessary hours to meet the needs of a 24-hour establishment.


SUMMARY:

The Systems Administrator is responsible for the administration, maintenance, troubleshooting, and performance optimization of all IT systems, servers, network equipment, and end-user devices. Operating independently without direct daily supervision, the Systems Administrator must be highly self-motivated, proactive, and committed to maintaining the security, integrity, and performance of the organization's critical systems within the Tribal Gaming environment. This role supports enterprise infrastructure, ensures system resilience, and provides technical assistance to staff, while safeguarding compliance with internal policies and regulatory requirements.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Administer, monitor, and maintain physical and virtual servers, storage arrays (SAN/NAS), network devices (routers, switches, firewalls), and backup systems.
  2. Install, configure, troubleshoot, and upgrade hardware and software, including servers, desktops, laptops, mobile devices, and network appliances.
  3. Manage Microsoft Active Directory, Group Policies, user accounts, email (Microsoft Exchange), DNS, DHCP, file shares, and related infrastructure.
  4. Implement and monitor system security measures, including antivirus software, firewalls, and patch management.
  5. Provide Tier 2/3 desktop and application support for enterprise systems and respond to Help Desk escalations in a timely, customer-focused manner.
  6. Configure and troubleshoot LAN/WAN connectivity, including Cisco network equipment in a high-availability setting.
  7. Perform regular system performance checks, preventive maintenance, and maintain detailed documentation of configurations, incidents, resolutions, and changes.
  8. Support and maintain Genetec™ SecurityDesk® surveillance system, physical access control systems, and related infrastructure.
  9. Administer and troubleshoot card programming systems, fingerprint scanning systems, and other departmental systems.
  10. Assist with network design, cabling infrastructure projects, hardware installations, and building pulls.
  11. Coordinate and communicate with external vendors to escalate and resolve issues.
  12. Lead system upgrades, migrations, and hardware refresh initiatives.
  13. Ensure compliance with Tribal Gaming regulatory standards, cybersecurity best practices, and internal IT policies.
  14. Maintain confidentiality and ensure data protection across all IT operations.
  15. Document all IT tasks using iView™ iTrak® or other designated tracking systems.
  16. Participate in after-hours support, on-call rotations, and critical incident responses as needed.
  17. Performs other related duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. Minimum of an Associate's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field; or equivalent combination of education and four (4) years of professional experience.
  2. Professional certifications preferred (e.g., CompTIA A+, Network+, Security+, Microsoft Windows Server Hybrid Administrator Associate, Microsoft 365 Certified: Modern Desktop Administrator Associate, Cisco CCNA).
  3. Minimum three (3) years of progressive experience in IT systems administration, desktop support, and network management.
  4. Strong proficiency with Microsoft Windows Server environments, Active Directory, VMware or Hyper-V virtualization, Microsoft Office applications, and backup technologies.
  5. Knowledge of Cisco networking equipment and Windows-based networking principles (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VLANs).
  6. Strong technical troubleshooting, analytical, and organizational skills.
  7. Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines without direct supervision.
  8. Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
  9. High attention to detail and commitment to producing accurate, thorough work.
  10. Must maintain a professional appearance and demeanor at all times.
  11. Must maintain strict confidentiality regarding all organizational, gaming, and personnel information.
  12. Must be able to pass a prescreening test.

EDUCATION AND CERTIFICATIONS:

  1. BS/BA Degree in Computer Science strongly preferred or equivalent combination of education and experience is required.
  2. Industry-recognized certifications preferred (e.g., Microsoft, CompTIA, Cisco certifications).
  3. Ongoing technical training and professional development encouraged.

PHYSICAL, INTELLECTUAL, AND ENVIRONMENTAL DEMANDS:

  1. Must be able to maneuver in all areas of the property including data closets, server rooms, and administrative offices.
  2. Must be able to lift, carry, push, and pull up to 50 pounds regularly.
  3. Must be able to work from ladders, lifts, or heights up to 35 feet.
  4. Must possess manual dexterity to operate computer hardware, hand tools, and testing equipment.
  5. Must be able to bend, reach, kneel, stoop, and climb.
  6. Must be able to sit, stand, or walk for extended periods of time.
  7. Must be able to tolerate areas containing secondary smoke.
  8. Must possess clear vision and hearing and respond to auditory and visual cues.
  9. Must be able to work calmly, professionally, and effectively under pressure in a fast-paced environment.

LICENSES, CERTIFICATES, AND REGISTRATIONS:

  1. A valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record as determined by the Tribe's insurance carrier is required.
  2. Must be able to obtain and maintain a gaming license from the Dry Creek Gaming Commission.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

  1. Fast-paced, highly dynamic environment within a Tribal Gaming facility.
  2. Must be flexible to work varying shifts, weekends, holidays, and on-call hours as required.
  3. Must manage multiple priorities while maintaining attention to detail and quality.
  4. Requires professionalism and courtesy in interactions with diverse groups of employees and guests.
