Job Summary
We’re seeking a skilled, detail-oriented Buffing Technician with aerospace experience for the 2nd shift (3:00 PM – 11:30 PM + OT). In this role, you’ll be responsible for setting up and operating sanding, buffing, de‐burring, and bead‐blasting machines to deliver precision‐finished parts. You’ll interpret blueprints, set up tooling, and inspect workpieces to ensure compliance with tight specs. Ideal candidates are quality-driven, safety-conscious, and thrive in a fast-paced evening environment.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Read blueprints/job orders for specs (dimensions, tolerances) and tooling instructions (feed rate, speed, depth of cut); verify operation sequence and request clarification
- Select and install buffing wheels, sanding belts, abrasives, and polishing compounds; set up machines using fixtures, jigs, or tables jobs.recruiter.com.
- Position and secure workpieces; adjust speed, pressure, and depth controls.
- Operate belt sanders, buffers, bead blasters, polishing lathes, and power polishers to smooth and finish surfaces
- Maneuver controls to align tooling and workpieces; set specified feeds, speeds, and depth of cut
- Start machines for sanding, buffing, de‐burring, or bead blasting
- Observe operations and verify finished pieces meet specifications, reporting issues promptly
- Follow all safety protocols and keep the work area clean and organized
Qualifications & Skills
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Experience in buffing, polishing, or related machine operations (preferred)
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints and work orders
- Familiarity with feeds, speeds, depth-of-cut, and tooling setups
- Strong attention to detail and quality control mindset
- Knowledge of shop safety rules and best practices
- Ability to lift moderate weight and stand for extended periods
