Degree in American Sign Language (ASL) Interpreting, certified ASL Interpreter credentials, and 1+ year of experience as an ASL Interpreter in educational settings. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered.
A contract position is available for a skilled Sign Language Interpreter to support student communication within a school setting. This role requires a strong understanding of American Sign Language and the nuances of interpreting in educational environments to facilitate effective communication between deaf or hard-of-hearing students and their peers, teachers, and staff.
Key Qualifications:
- Valid licensure or certification as a Sign Language Interpreter
- Minimum EIPA (Educational Interpreter Performance Assessment) score of 3.5
- Proficient in American Sign Language (ASL)
- Experience working in school or educational settings preferred
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills to connect with students and educators
Location:
- Position based in Tracy, CA
Responsibilities:
- Provide clear and accurate sign language interpretation for students in classroom settings and related school activities
- Collaborate with teachers and support staff to promote an inclusive learning environment
- Assist in communication during meetings, extracurricular activities, and school events
- Maintain confidentiality and adhere to professional ethical standards
- Stay current with best practices and continuing education in sign language interpreting
Compensation:
- Pay range from $32.21 to $46.35 per hour, commensurate with experience and qualifications
