Construction Project Estimator
We are looking for a detail-oriented Construction Estimator to bid jobs, obtain all relevant project specifications, determine building materials, analyze the scope of work for any potential setbacks, secure favorable prices on subcontractors and vendors, build construction schedules, manage the budget, ascertain projects are completed within budget and schedule. You should also review trends in construction to determine whether your estimates are both reasonable and competitive.
Our ideal candidate can oversee multiple projects from all aspects: design, estimating, owner selections, and execution. We are looking for someone who has excellent people and communication skills and is able to think outside of the box for creative problem-solving who is hard-working and passionate team member to own this role!
Job Responsibilities:
- Proactive, flexible, team player who is comfortable working in a small company environment and taking on a leadership role
- Responsible for accurate and timely estimating and management of assigned projects
- Collect all pertinent documents including property plans, drawings, layouts, and project specifications
- Study documentation, meet with clients, inspect the construction site to fully understand what work is required
- Bid projects with accurate pricing that detail materials, labor, trades, costs, and time frames, detail scope, specification, and production rates
- Meet with clients to discuss contract terms about our offers
- Obtain multiple quotes for subs/vendors and select the most suitable offers
- Negotiate with subs/service providers to secure better prices
- Outline the scope of work to have clear visibility of work to be performed
- Develop schedule/charts of how much time will be needed to complete all phases
- Perform risk assessments to account for potential deviations from the project plan
- Manage jobs according to schedule, on budget, and at or above bid-day gross profit margin
Construction Estimator Requirements:
- Previous experience as an estimator/project manager for a minimum of 5 years in a general contracting company
- Degree in mechanical engineering, architecture, or similar
- Demonstrable experience as a construction estimator, relevant training and/or certification
- Strong computer experience, word, excel, google (all work must be done on an Ipad)
- Competence with analysis, numeration, research, and the use of spreadsheet and scheduling software
- The ability to work well in a team environment is also essential for this position
- Forward-looking, able to see the problem well in advance, having a solution in place before a crisis
- Ability to forecast the cost of high-ticket, involved building developments
- Outstanding research and proposal writing skills
- Able to read drawings, plans, and blueprints
- Able to work in high-stress conditions and quickly changing environments
- Excellent organizational and leadership skills, able to communicate and report effectively
- Good physical condition and stamina, able to stand and walk for long periods of time
- Ability to lift 50+ lbs
- Reliable transportation
Compensation:
- $72,800 - $83,000 yearly annual salary
- Commission package
- Salary + compensation = $100K+
- Mileage Reimb / Future company vehicle
- 8 Paid Holidays + 9 Accruable Sick Days per year after 1st 90 Days
