How will I contribute

<li>Provide direct advocacy and support to consumers as they navigate their wellness and recovery journeys.</li>
<li>Serve as a positive role model by sharing lived experience, offering encouragement, support, and understanding.</li>
<li>Assist in developing consumer-driven wellness and recovery plans in collaboration with experienced staff.</li>
<li>Co-facilitate groups, classes, and activities on- and off-site to support consumer engagement and build facilitation skills.</li>
<li>Provide daily transportation for consumers to and from the facility, appointments, and community activities.</li>
<li>Support consumers in creating action plans, safety agreements, post-crisis planning, and psychiatric advance directives (PADs).</li>
<li>Offer referrals and advocate for consumers to help them access needed services and resources.</li>
<li>Provide community education on wellness and recovery principles and practices.</li>
<li>Support volunteers and interns as needed in program activities and events.</li>
<li>Interact with staff, consumers, and the public in a respectful, professional, and helpful manner to promote positive relationships and collaboration.</li>

May encounter risk of working with persons with SMI (serious mental illness) that may include, but not limited to persons in mental health crisis, persons that may be intoxicated or impaired by drugs or alcohol, persons who may be DTO (danger to others), DTS (Danger to Self), or GD (Gravely Disabled). If such situations arise, staff will be required to call local emergency personnel to help deescalate the crisis, use crisis intervention techniques, and consult with supervisor as soon as practically possible.
